Harry Potter & The Cursed Child - J.K. Rowling, John Tiffany, Jack Thorne
So I think it's fair to say this book has received very mixed reviews. The thing is this is just the script for the play and so you can't really expect to read it the same way you can with a novel. The good thing is is your a Harry Potter fan which I most definitely am, the your already familiar with the characters and the world they live in so you can more fully immerse yourself in the world. I don't necessarily think you have to have read the previous novels to enjoy this(not that I understand why you wouldn't want to) as I think the story can be seen as a standalone novel but of course the back story helps.
Obviously I imagine being lucky enough to go and watch the play would be 1000x times better than just reading the script, however that really isn't an option for me and I imagine many many others, who like me haven't got the money, and don't live in London so at least we have the script and get a feeling for the play and the story.
Of course for Potter fans this is a nice extension to the story we all love, we get to catch up with the families, see whats everyone is up to and how the years have treated them since we left them 19 years ago! For me I enjoyed reading it, its quick to read and I loved the few hours I got to spend back the world of Harry Potter.
Let me know if you have read Harry Potter & The Cursed Child and what you thought about it, and don't forget to leave me your book recommendations.
Thanks For Reading,
Sam
